So tried my Detours TEECO pannier on the rear rack. That and the much more stable foot print when folded made the decision for me. The tikit rear rack stays!I use the TEECO every day on my commute (about 16 mile round trip 3x/week) and it worked just fine on the rear rack as pictured.
With the pannier locked between the two cross bars it is much more stable than it looks. Didn't budge a bit today. Even bunny hopping across the expansion joints on the Mopac bridge over Barton Creek doing 30+ MPH during rush hour.
I've been bugging BF about an ETA for the "other" tikit rear rack that was discussed on Yak earlier. Just got an email tonight.
"It looks like the taller rear rack for standard panniers won't be available until next year."
Put me down on the list! If anyone else hears anything about the rear tikit pannier rack please let me know...

Hi - I bought the new rear rack for my Tikit recently, and installed it last night. It mounts good, but has some problems in attaching to one part of the bike frame. I had to find a different screw to mount it than the one BF had on it before. Seems to work - time will tell. I've owned my Tikit a few months and have enjoyed it so far. :) I also own a BF Pocket Pilot that I've traveled with. :)
Hmmm...
No problems here when I mounted my rear rack.
My previous BF was a SRD which I sold after I got my tikit. Definitely agree with you about how much fun the tikit is.
Checked out your blog and had to laugh at the post about the "office ride". 1st day I brought my tikit to work one of the guys on my team took mine for a short ride around the office also...lol
